I know it's completely random but she was really famous when I was a boy.
Ok, kinda famous. But I adored her wildly.
During a stretch in the 70's she had a supporting role on two network shows:
On McMillan & Wife as the meddling maid & on Rhoda as the meddling mom.
She was Emmy nommed several times for both brilliant performances.
I was very young and it confused me that she could do both shows.
Like, how was that not illegal?
And to make the confusion worse she was also doing commercials for Bounty.
She played spunky waitress and paper towel user, Rosie.
She had a catchy tag-line too, "Bounty, it's the quicker picker upper."
Now, why was Nancy Walker on my mind you ask?
Well, as it so happens it was at happy hour a couple of Sunday's ago...
I was hanging with a friend who is, shall we say, very aggressive.
At one point he saw something he liked and was off and hunting.
I told another friend, "I think we need to start calling him Bounty."
He smiled as we cracked-wise together, "Cuz he's the 'quicker picker upper.'"
