Last night I met a lovely woman named Megan.
She is in town scouting gymnasts for the college she coaches for in Utah.
She is also a dear friend of my friend Scott who at point informed me,
"Megan was in the movie American Anthem. She was the big meanie."
She nodded as I said, "Oh with Mitch Gaylord. I saw that in the theater!"
She laughed, "I'm sorry."
Mitch Gaylord was part of the 1984 gold medal Olympic gymnastics team.
There was quite a frenzy that followed & surrounded those '84 Games.
American Anthem was released in '86 in an effort to capitalize on the hoopla.
I continued playfully, "That movie was so awful." She agreed, "Oh, I know."
On the IMDB website it has a generous rating of 2.9 out of 10.
I demanded through a smile, "Yea, I'm gonna need that $8 back."
She aptly replied, "Now you know that way back then movies weren't $8!"
She's right of course, I probably saw it at a matinee for $2.
But as I think about it - it was so bad I'm gonna have to adjust for inflation.
So Megan, that'll be eight bucks please. Pay up.
