Yesterday I walked by a little old man doing yard work.
To ease the monotony he employed his transistor radio on his front steps.
The volume cranked all the way up on an oldies station, static be damned.
As I took this photo the Bee Gee's More Than a Woman filled the air.
A happy reminder of his younger days, to be sure.
As I walked away it triggered a memory from my youth.
I lived for Casey Kasem's American Top 40 every Sunday from 9-noon.
I was a total chart junkie and I never missed it.
I wrote everything down and poured over the charts intensely.
Casey Kasem was easliy one of my best friends.
Countless are the number of Sunday mornings I spent listening to his show.
Often on a transistor radio just like the one I encountered yesterday.
A happy reminder of my younger days, to be sure.
