There is a small section at the Indian Wells tournament between the large exorcise field and club house where the fans can pounce on the players for an autograph or a quick photo (if you're lucky). But you gotta be quick - they tend to scurry.
Some stop and graciously spend a little more time signing and meeting but to do this they need to stay on the players-only side of the fence or else they will get mobbed.
On a day that I was in attendance the Bryan Brothers stopped and had a little fun with the small crowd that had gathered. Mike made his way down to where I was and a mother of two boys said to to him as he was signing their autograph balls, "My little ones are twins too. Born two minutes apart just like you two. They want to grow up and be the next Bryan Brothers. They absolutely idolize you guys."
She yammered on in this way as she got her boys to take a photo with Mike. Neither kid said a word and I wondered if they were thinking what I would have were my mother doing this to me, "Shut up lady, you're embarassing me!"
A couple minutes later Bob made his way down and as if scripted she told him the exact same thing but added as she tapped one kid on the head, "This one is left-handed just like you."
I had to give it to her for being able to tell them apart.
As Bob walked away she called after him, "Do you have any advice for them."
He turned and smiled at them, "Just keep hittin' the ball, that's all we did."
