Gosh, if you had asked me two weeks ago to give you a prediction about the rest of Ivan Ljubicic's career I probably would have told you that he was certainly going to spend the next few years trying (I might have even used the word 'struggling') to keep himself ranked between 25-50.
Then boom - he goes and wins the biggest non-Slam tournament on the tennis schedule and flies up to #13 (up from #26). Incredible. And at the ripe old age of 31.
This win ought to keep him securely in the top 20 for most of the next 12 months. And with average results in '09 he is in a nice position to improve and possibly work his way back into the top 10. As soon as next week in fact - last year he was a first round loser.
Again, incredible.
