That was an AWESOME match - nevermind that it was a straight-setter.
A thrilling encounter from ball one. And a real pleasure to watch.
Fran better never be compared to Majoli or Myskina - she's earned better.
Fran became the first ever Italian woman to ever win a Slam. Ever.
She only needed one match point to forever change her life.
From this day forward she will be revered in Italy as a sporting legend.
She has been a second tier player for her career and I haven't seen her much,
Francesca really captured my heart today. She's so damn adorable.
She's a humble champion. And a gracious champion. And a worthy champion.
Francesca will see her ranking soar up 11 places to #6 come Monday.
It's her first time into the top 10 - after flirting with it at #11 last year.
This is only Fran's 4th career title & 2nd in '10 following her win in Barcelona.

If Ted Robinson said one more time that "this is her only chance"...
"Her Olympic moment"... UGH! Um, how do you know Teddy? Shut up.
Crystal ball analysis like that really yanks my chain.
And when is the last time a women's final was called without a woman?
I enjoy Mary Carillo - but I'm glad family comes first. (Kids graduation.)
This match will be talked about for years to come. Rightfully so.

I HAVE seen Schiavone much, when watching Fed Cup matches. Italy won it several times already, and Francesca was always the best in each tie, thriving on team spirit, leading the team by example.
She's gutsy, has a varied and crafty game and she grabbed at the opportunity of a lifetime. Kudos.
