This is the 6th Hopman Cup title for the USA & 1st since 2007.

The USA is the winningest nation at the unique mixed doubles exo event.

Well done guys. Hopefully good fortune will beget more good fortune.

Isner is now off to defend his only ATP title - at Auckland next week.

And Bethanie has drawn #2 seed Pavlyuchenkova at Sydney.

Novak Djokovic & Ana Ivanovic Go 1-0 at Hopman Cup

What a great looking mixed doubles team. London 2012 anyone?

They beat the Kazakhstan team of Shvedova & Golubev 3-0.

As a team they won 6 of 7 sets - Novak dropped the 1st set to Golubev.

Novak post match: All in all, I'm just happy to not embarrass Ana.

I was just trying because I wanted to make her happy.

We have known each other since we were five...

And we have a great relationship. She's the nicest girl I know in tennis...

Tommy Robredo Leads Spain to Hopman Cup Win

Spain's Tommy Robredo was the big stud of the week in Hopman Cup play going undefeated in matches and looking damn good while doing it.

Tommy and partner Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez (are all those names really necessary?) won their glittery balls after taking the very entertaining doubles match over the British pairing of Andy Murray and Laura Robson but it was Tommy's comeback from a set down in his singles match that really clinched the title.

So I am sitting on the couch watching American Melanie 'Believe' Oudin take on Aussie Samantha Stosur - she is two breaks down in the first set. Next American John Isner will tangle with Australian legend Lleyton Hewitt, then they will team for mixed doubles.

Hard to get pumped for this one. In fact, with these boring ass commentators, I'm about to leave things up to my DVR and fast forward through this mess later on tonight.

In the time it took me to write these few paragraphs and spell-check them Stosur has won the first set 6-2.

They won their opening tie at the Hopman Cup over Kazakhstan, 2-1.

Laura dropped her singles match. She should worry more about the tennis.

Lleyton Hewitt at the Hopman Cup

Lleyton Hewitt and teammate Samantha Stosur lost to the Romanian pair Sorana Cristea and Victor Hanescu in round robin play today at the Hopman Cup.

I was looking at the pics of Llewton on the various tennis sites and he just doesn't look like the same guy. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we just don't see much of him anymore - tho he is actually on the other side of the net in the picture I took at the US Open this summer that I am using for the banner above. Sadly, I wonder how much tennis he has left in him.

Can't put my finger on it but something seems to be missing.

His youth perhaps?
