Today Roger took to his Facebook page to post this photo and leave his fans a message: I Practiced in Stockholm this evening. The practice was opened to the fans and there were over 4’000 people watching. It made for an exciting and interesting practice! Lots of fun and I even hit with some young kids at the end.
This is the second time Roger has played in Stockholm. Ranked #29 he lost in the round of 16 in 2000 to Andreas Vincigurra. He will play Taylor Dent in the 2nd round on Thursday - H2H 1-0/RF.
Roger, from the AP: "It's not that important to be two, three or four. For me it's either No. 1 in the world or everything else. After being No. 1 for so long and having been there it's obviously the best feeling to be there. When you're not ranked No. 1 in the world, you obviously try to get back there."
Further: "Maybe in the past I had winning records against everybody. I remember at one stage, I beat 24 top 10 players in a row. Every time I was in a final, I won 24 finals in a row, so obviously you cannot keep up those kinds of streaks. But I was so successful that I suppose I'm being compared to back then, which is very hard to do."
