He has successfully defended the 1st 2 of his 7 titles from last season.

He now heads to Acapulco as the 3-time defending champion.

This will be interesting as Rafa is in Mexico to challenge.

Post match: I am very happy for this title.

I cannot describe it with other words. It’s very hard to win

back-to-back titles, and this tournament in Buenos Aires is always very tough.

I am very proud.

I am sooooo hoping for a David/Rafa final on Sunday.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Wins ATP Title at Marseille

Post match: This is a great victory. I stayed in the match

even when it was very difficult and waited for my chance.

I survived and took my chance when it came. I’m very happy.

This shows me that I’m on the right way. The draw was very strong here.

Cool stuff. Now on to bigger titles please. Dubai this week would work.

Feliciano Lopez Reaches 300th Win Milestone at Memphis

More proof that he's not just a pretty face.

At 31 he's plugged away at reaching the 300 mark.

As of this Qf win his career W-L is 300-293. Hey, it's a winning record.

Longevity: Most years he's won between 20-35 matches.

Post match: It’s good accomplishment and means that I’ve been able to

play a long time without many injuries.

Currently ranked #40 - this result will bump him up a bit.

Rafael Nadal's Comeback at Vina Del Mar Starts with a Win

Yea baby!

I, for one, am thrilled he's back. I hope there are no setbacks.

To be honest - there was a lot of rust in the first 6 games.

Then Rafa turned it on and blasted his way into the quarters.

Post match: I'm happy to play a singles match after so long.

I need days and time to get my game back,

but so far the feeling on court is great.
 
For now the most important thing is to spend as much time as possible

on court. This victory allows me to play at least two more matches,

singles & doubles. To practise is one thing but to play is totally different.

In a real match you can't control your body as you do in practice.

Rafael Nadal Enjoys a Winning Start to his Comeback at Vina Del Mar

Juan Monaco posted the pic (watch prominent!) with the caption:

Rafa post match: It was a great feeling to play again and

I'm very happy for doing it with a friend like Monaco in a great atmosphere

that we had on the court. In doubles the effort is always less [taxing];

we will see how it goes in singles and how my physical condition is.

I chose this tournament because it is the perfect time and surface.

Rafael Nadal is in Chile to PLAY Tennis y'all!

Rafa is in Vina Del Mar to ease his way back onto the ATP tour.

He has not played a professional match since his Wimby loss last June.

Vina Del Mar is a small 250 event that he has never played before.

His first match will take place on Wednesday.

But he will play a doubles match with Juan Monaco on Tuesday.

If all goes well he will play in Brazil & Acapulco.

ALL HAD BETTER GO WELL!

Bernard Tomic Wins His Maiden Title at Sydney

Australia is back on the map, y'all.

Bernie gained his first ATP final and seized his opportunity.

And this is just the first of many. So get use to his face.

He now heads to his home Slam and possibly a 3 rounder against Fed.

Blink and David is at a whopping 18 tour titles.

Owed in large part by the tour-leading 7 titles he won last season.

With Rafa out David has moved up to 4th seed at next week's Aussie Open.

But has he over-played before the first Slam Down Under?

Remember he also played last week in Doha.

He's a nice looking draw tho Serb's lurk: he's in Nole's half/Janko's quarter.

Hopefully they'll give him a day or two off.

Now don't be nervous David - remember, all of Spain is depending on you.

Ryan Harrison Upsets John Isner at Sydney

Nice result there Ryan. To be fair, Isner is playing injured.

John is still unsure if he'll play the Australian Open next week.

Ryan moved into his 8th career ATP Qf and he has a good record: 5-2.

He'll face Julien Benneteau for the first time. I like his chances.

Ryan got to a ranking high of #43 last summer then stumbled a bit.

He has slipped to his current #68.

If he can stay away from a top seed at the Aussie that ranking will go up.

Last year he got Andy Murray in the 1st round. That had to suck.

Janko Tipsarevic Takes 2013 Title at Chennai

It took Janko nearly forever to win his first ATP title at Kuala Lumpur...

But since that win 16 months ago he's now collected 4 trophies.

Post match: I didn’t play my best tennis in every match this week,

but I am happy to win the title.

I really wanted to win this tournament as it is my sixth time here.

He's ranked #9 but with Rafa's withdrawal he'll be seeded #8 at the AO.13.

Last year he lost in the 3R - I'm thinking he'll go a little farther this year.

I mean, he's seeded to get to the Qf's. I'd like to see that.

I think. I haven't seen the draw yet.

Andy Murray Starts 2013 Season with Title at Brisbane

ATP title #25 & 2nd straight at Brisbane - the 6th time he defended a title.

He'll have a week off befor the Aussie Open where he'll be the #3 seed.

Pressure off: It's the 1st time he enters a Slam as an actual Slam winner.

I do feel more relaxed one week out from slam than I have done previously,

that's for sure, so I hope that's a good sign.

As for Grigor - he enjoyed his best week on the ATP tour.

This was his first time playing in a final. And he was UP in both sets.

Never fear G, it's in the offing. This year. Trust.

Richard Gasquet Wins 2013 Doha Title

In winning the Falcon trophy he picks up his 8th ATP title.

Time flies: When the hell did he get to be 26?

Post match: I'm really happy with the way I played and fought.

He was playing fast in the first set.

I just try to keep focused and to fight a lot, and I did it.

I’m really happy with the way I won. It's important for me to win the final.

Richard made the 4R of all 4 Slams last year...

Can he better that in a couple weeks in Melbourne?

He'll likely be seeded #9 so he'll need some draw luck errr, chanceux.

Robin wins his 2nd carrer title as he defends at Kitzbuhel.

As a result he moves up to a career high ranking of #33.

Post match: I'm happy I won here again.

I don't think many players have won here twice.

It doesn't happen too often nowadays. I'm very proud of that.

Sam put a beatdown on the first time ATP finalist.

This is Sam's 7th title and 3rd at LA. The win moves him up to #38.

Post match: I feel like I always play well here.

I grew up kind of playing around this area and...

I’m really comfortable out there on the courts.

It’s fun to play in front of my friends and family.

It all came together this week, and especially today.

Andy Roddick Wins ATP Title at Atlanta

I had a suspicion it was way too soon to write Andy off.

In fact, this is his 2nd title of the year following Eastbourne.

Movin' on up: The win spikes his ranking up 5 spots to #22.

Post match: I’ve won 32 times now and every one of them.

I’ve never assumed I was going to win again. I’ve always appreciated it...

I go through the process of playing, work hard, and hope...

That I can put myself in position enough times to create some success.

Andy will now head to London to play the Olympics.

Not only is he playing singles he's also teaming with John Isner for doubles.

That might just be a medal winning team.

Thomaz wins his 3rd title and 2nd in Gstaad ('09).

Post match: Gstaad is very special for me...

Because I won my first title here three years ago...

Which was a surprise and unexpected.

For me to win one more time here is very special.

I feel very comfortable here, like I’m playing at home.

The win will bump him 20 spots in the rankings to about #40.

Not a bad week.

The London Games is next for both boys. Enjoy. I will.

Janko Tipsarevic into ATP Gstaad Final

The Serb is on a bit of a roll...

Having won Stuttgart last week Janko is on a 7 match win streak.

He advances to his 3rd final of '12: 1-1 and 10th career final: 3-6.

He will play Thomaz Bellucci - H2H: 1-1. They played a 3-setter last week.

One more day at the office and then Janko will head to the London Games.

He posted the photo above of his ice bath to Facebook a couple days ago.

The 23 year-old Croat won his 8th title and 2nd on the season.

He went one further this year as he was the runner-up last year.

David picked up his 16th title, 2nd at Bastad & 5th on the season.

All this and he's still stuck at #5 in the rankings.

This is the 1st time he has ever defended a title.

This is also the 2nd straight Sunday with a title following Wimbldeon.

Sara won her 6th WTA title and 4th of the year.

She is the 1st Italian to win 4 titles in a single season.

Juan is in the hunt for his 3rd title this year: Vina del Mar & Houston.

Juan is currently ranked a career high of #14...

And inching ever closer to the top 10 - a major goal of all players.

Those 4 ranking spots are going to be crazy tough to make up...

Nearly 500 points separate him from #10 Almagro.

That's a lot of distance but not impossible - he's a decent summer away.

We're pulling for him.

He and Rafa & Roger lead the tour with 4 titles each this season.

David heads to Wimby after having lost in the 4th round last year.

He will open against Dustin Brown and is in Murray's quarter.

Post match: I'm very, very happy. I've won two times here.

This is special for me because grass is maybe my worst surface.

Make it 601: With his Sf win Andy notched his 600th career match win.

And it was a long time coming as he hadn't won a match since March.

This marks his 31st title and 1st since Memphis in Feb '10.

Andy has now won at least 1 title in 12 consecutive seasons.

Andy & Roger are the only active players with 600 wins & 12 title years.

He will play Jamie Baker in his opener at W and is in Murray's quarter.

Rising again: The win will bump him up from #33 to about #25.

As the USA's #3 player he's still far behind Isner (#10) & Fish (#12).

Something tells me he'll finish 2012 ahead of at least one of them.

ATP Weekend Winners for June 17, 2012

ATP 250 Queen's Club - Final

6 Marin Cilic d 10 David Nalbandian - 67(3) 43 Def.

David was defaulted for assaulting and leaving bloodied a lines judge.

Thus handing Marin his 7th career ATP title.

Marin has been struggling with injuries of late and said post-match:

I played good today and came here to play four, five matches.

I won them and pretty comfortably in those first two or three.

I’m feeling really good & I think my form is on the spot where it should be.

ATP 250 Halle - Final

WC Tommy Haas d 2 Roger Federer - 76(5) 64

This is Tommy's 13th career ATP title & 1st since winning Halle in '09.

The win also gave him a near 40 spot ranking boost to #49.

This was Tommy's 3rd win over Fed - the last win was way back in '02.

Post match: I don’t have many words to say really...

Except that it is an amazing feeling to win another title in Germany.

To have somebody across the net like Roger is a real honour for me.

To have that picture with the winning trophy and Roger next to me...

Is something really special, something I’ll obviously never forget.

I’m just really happy and proud.
